Importance of bank challan when applying for NET
All candidates who are planning to sit for the UGC NET December 2012 examination, are, by now, are into full-fledged preparation. Though the dates of the examination have not been announced yet, it will be announced before the month of September comes to an end. And once the dates are announced, candidates will have to apply for the examination. However, it has to be understood that without a bank challan, the application process cannot be initiated.
The bank challan for NET
To apply for the examination, candidates will have to first register with the website of UGC with the help of a username and password. Once the registration is complete, candidates will be able to see a bank challan Performa from the website. They will have to download this bank challan Performa and visit any branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) in the country. In the bank, you will have to pay the admission fee along with the bank charges and also produce the bank challan Performa. The bank charges or commission is Rs 20. On payment of fees, the SBI branch will give the candidates a bank challan. The challan is basically a copy of the fee receipt and you cannot apply for UGC NET December 2012 online, without this bank receipt.
The bank challan will have to be filled in by the candidates. The details that the candidates will require to mention include candidate’s name, father’s name, address, the category the candidate belongs to (General, OBC, SC, ST, PH, and VH) and the required fees. The NET Centre code and Subject code will also have to be filled in.
The bank will fill up the SBI branch name, branch code, journal number and deposit date on the bank challan. It will be signed by a bank authority and stamped adequately. While one copy of the bank challan will be given to the candidate, the second copy is the UGC copy and the third is the bank’s copy.
